Nevada Dispensary SEO and Board‑Compliant Ads

Locals and Visitors Are Still Choosing a Nevada Dispensary After Two Years of Falling Sales

Nevada's cannabis sales have fallen two fiscal years in a row while the number of licensed dispensaries has barely moved, and that statewide picture won't tell you how your own locations are doing. Taxable cannabis sales were $829.2 million in fiscal 2024, $757.7 million in fiscal 2025 and about $696.0 million in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2026, going by the Department of Taxation's tracker, two drops of roughly 8% in a row. Meanwhile the Cannabis Compliance Board's count went from 106 dispensaries in April 2025 to 108 adult-use dispensaries on its September 2026 list, 78 in Southern Nevada and 30 in the north.

I'd start by comparing how often each of your locations shows up on Google against the licensed dispensaries nearby. ColaDigital helps you get found where Nevada shoppers look: your Google and Maps listings, the right hours and menu in every Nevada city you're in, the way AI assistants describe each of your dispensaries, and ads that clear Nevada's ad law.

Nevada Listing Check

Share your site and the Nevada cities you sell in. Vee sizes up how your Nevada locations appear on Maps against the licensed dispensaries nearby, checks a sample of your latest promotions for the two required warnings and your license number, and emails you his priority fixes, generally before the second business day is out.

It costs nothing. We keep your information private and won't send a sales sequence afterward.

Nevada Cannabis Market and Advertising Rules: Key Figures

  • Sales: about $696.0 million in fiscal 2026 after $757.7 million in fiscal 2025
  • Dispensaries: 108 adult-use and 1 medical-only on the Board's list current as of September 1, 2026
  • Clark County: $506.4 million of fiscal 2026 sales, about 73% of the state
  • Audience: your ads can't run in a medium where 30% or more of the audience is reasonably expected to be under 21
  • Required on ads: "Keep out of reach of children," "For use only by adults 21 years of age and older," your dispensary's name and its license number
  • Medical: no new medical establishment licenses since January 1, 2024, and 9,090 patient cardholders in February 2026

What Nevada's Ad Law Requires on Every Ad You Run

Nevada writes most of its cannabis advertising rules into the statute itself. No publication, broadcast or other medium is open to your ads if "30 percent or more of the audience of that medium" is reasonably expected to be under 21. Every ad you run also has to carry two statements, "Keep out of reach of children" and "For use only by adults 21 years of age and older," along with your dispensary's name and its license number or other identifier from the Board.

The statute also asks for proof. You have to keep documentation of how you estimated each audience's age for at least five years. In practice, I'd save the audience data, a screenshot of who the ad was aimed at and the final ad together for every buy, filed by month, so a question in 2029 about a 2026 campaign takes you minutes, not a week.

One caveat I want to be upfront about: the Board's own advertising regulation sits alongside the statute and can add detail. We couldn't open its current text when we checked in October 2026, so what we've summarized here relies on the statute and the Board's published guidance. I'd check that regulation, or have your attorney check it, before a large campaign.

Sources: the Nevada statute and Board guidance from July 17, 2025, detailed in the source line. The Board's own ad regulation wouldn't open for us when we checked.

Our ad creative rules guide places Nevada alongside the other states we cover. For Nevada's 1,000-foot school and park buffer next to other states' distance rules, see our marketing laws for dispensaries in each state.

Where You Can't Advertise Your Nevada Dispensary

The 1,000-foot buffer covers public and private schools, playgrounds, public parks and libraries. If your ad was up before one of those opened nearby, it can stay. Public transit is out, including the vehicles and the shelters, though the statute's definition leaves taxis out of "public transportation," so the transit ban itself doesn't reach them.

Events are where Las Vegas gets tricky. You can't advertise at a sports event that admits anyone under 21, or at an entertainment event where 30% or more of the crowd is reasonably expected to be under 21. LVSportsBiz reported in 2022 that Lamar was told not to run cannabis ads on Allegiant Stadium's boards, and Clark County's 2017 ordinance barred marijuana business ads at the airport; we haven't confirmed that ordinance is unchanged today.

Before you buy any ad near a venue, check two things: who the event admits, and what the expected age mix of its crowd is. If you can't document the second, I wouldn't run the ad.

What Changed in 2025: Anthropomorphic Images and Handbills

A 2025 bill added "anthropomorphic" images to the list of things Nevada cannabis ads and packaging can't use. The Board's July 17, 2025 guidance describes these as images that give human traits to an animal, plant or object. A smiling cannabis leaf with arms, or a cartoon bud wearing sunglasses, is exactly the kind of character you'd now have to drop.

The same guidance says handbills, pamphlets and cards count as your advertising when you hand them out to the general public, while circulated print media like newspapers don't. By that reading, a stack of your flyers left out for hotel guests falls under every rule above, warnings and license number included. The Board's November 20, 2025 hearing also covered packaging and advertising rules; we couldn't confirm what was adopted.

Penalties for Nevada Advertising Violations

If you break the advertising or record-keeping rules, the statute sets civil penalties counted over the prior two years: up to $1,250 for a first violation, $2,500 for a second, $5,000 for a third and $10,000 for a fourth. The Board also runs its own discipline schedule under its regulations. The historical version treated advertising violations as Category IV, with escalating fines and possible suspension, but we couldn't confirm the current version of that schedule.

Nevada Cannabis Sales, Tourism and the Local Shopper

Clark County accounted for $506.4 million of the roughly $696.0 million in fiscal 2026 taxable sales, Washoe County $101.2 million and the rest of the state $88.5 million. The Nevada Independent reported in February 2026 that Southern Nevada visitation fell 7.5% in 2025, citing the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, and quoted the Board's executive director at the time saying that swings in tourism "tend to impact sales for all of our casinos and tangential businesses."

With fewer visitors reported in Southern Nevada, I'd look separately at how your Las Vegas dispensary reaches tourists and how it reaches regular local customers. Visitors may need directions and current opening hours, while your returning customers may pay more attention to menus and deals.

Medical Cannabis in Nevada Today

Nevada stopped issuing new medical cannabis establishment licenses on January 1, 2024, except in jurisdictions that ban adult-use businesses. The Board's September 2026 list shows one medical-only dispensary. Medical patient cardholders fell from 9,425 in September 2025 to 9,090 in February 2026, according to the Division of Public and Behavioral Health, with 5,571 of them in Clark County.

Nevada Cities and Regions With Licensed Dispensaries

The Board's retailer list current as of September 1, 2026 gives street addresses rather than city counts. We tallied cities from those addresses, so treat the numbers as close, not exact.

Source: the Board's retailer list, current as of September 1, 2026 (78 Southern Nevada and 30 Northern Nevada adult-use stores, 1 medical-only store, 3 consumption lounges). City counts are ColaDigital's count from listed addresses. Tribal establishments aren't licensed by the Board and aren't included.

Clark County's population band caps it at 80 adult-use retail licenses under state law. The Board's September 2026 list separately identifies 78 adult-use dispensaries across Southern Nevada. Those figures use different geographic boundaries, so they don't establish how many Clark County license slots remain. The Board still lists three consumption lounges, all in Las Vegas, though The Nevada Independent reported that one, Smoke and Mirrors, had closed. If you run a lounge, you're held to the dispensary ad rules too.

What Our Dispensary and Clinic Clients Have Seen

ColaDigital doesn't have a Nevada client yet. Below are documented results from a single Texas medical practice and from dispensary clients in Dallas, Hamilton and elsewhere, each reported with its period. They show our method; what happens in Nevada would come down to your city and the competition there.

On the medical side, the work to look at is Texas 420 Doctors, a Texas practice offering medical cannabis evaluations in video appointments. For four months we ran its search ads on Google and its Meta campaigns, which is where the clinic's 1,580 qualified leads came from, and neither platform rejected anything. Its new website went up in August 2026, with a developer doing the build and ColaDigital covering the SEO through the launch. A Nevada campaign aimed at medical cardholders would still need the 30% audience test, both warnings and the license number, like any dispensary ad.

How Visitors Find a Las Vegas Dispensary Through AI Tools

Your visitors are the case worth thinking about here. Someone in a Strip hotel room who asks ChatGPT which nearby dispensary is open past midnight gets an answer that may draw on Google profile data, dispensary homepages, menu providers and directory pages. If your website and one of those listings disagree on closing time, the answer can send that visitor somewhere else, or to your door after you've locked it.

We line up those details, along with hours, address and menu links, across your website and each listing we can update, so Google picks up the same information your customers read. No one can promise which dispensary an assistant recommends. The accuracy of your own information is what we can actually work on.

How We Work With a Nevada Dispensary

  1. Audit Ads, Records and Listings First

We check live ads for the warnings, license number and audience data, set up the five-year record file if you don't have one, and correct the profile details for each of your dispensaries.

  2. Build Search for Visitors and Locals in Each City

Your visitors near the Strip and your regulars in Henderson or Sparks should each reach the right location, menu and directions without digging through a statewide website.

  3. Run Paid Ads and Report Monthly

Your ads go live after the audience documentation is filed, and your monthly report breaks out Maps views, website traffic and direction taps for each dispensary.

Nevada Cannabis Marketing Costs (USD)

Your Nevada program runs from $2,000 monthly. Run several Nevada dispensaries, or keep ads on all year, and it can top $10,000. Price tracks your location count, how hard the competition is around each one and the cleanup needed before growth work begins. American clients get USD invoices, Canadian clients get CAD invoices, and ad spend stays separate from what we charge.

Nevada Dispensaries, Lounges and Brands We Help

We fit Nevada dispensaries, multi-location groups, licensed consumption lounges and the cultivators and production facilities supplying them, if you want more customers finding you on Google while staying inside the state's ad law. Anthropomorphic mascots, "free with no purchase" offers and stadium boards at all-ages events can't be part of a Nevada plan. For labs and other licensee suppliers, the better starting point is our B2B case study.

Nevada Cannabis Marketing FAQs

What Is Nevada's 30% Under-21 Advertising Rule?

You can't advertise anywhere you reasonably expect 30% or more of the audience to be under 21, and you have to keep five years of records showing how you judged that.

What Must Every Nevada Cannabis Ad Include?

"Keep out of reach of children," "For use only by adults 21 years of age and older," your dispensary's name and its license number or Board identifier.

Where Can't Nevada Dispensaries Advertise?

Inside a 1,000-foot radius of schools, playgrounds, public parks and libraries, on public transit and shelters, at sports events open to under-21s, and at events with an expected 30% under-21 crowd.

Can a Nevada Dispensary Offer Free Cannabis?

Not without a purchase. State law bars advertising or offering cannabis as "free" or "donated" unless it comes with a purchase.

Are Cartoon Characters Allowed in Nevada Cannabis Ads?

No. Cartoon characters, mascots, toys and, since the 2025 session, anthropomorphic images are all barred because they appeal to children.

What Are the Fines for Nevada Cannabis Ad Violations?

Up to $1,250 for a first violation in two years, rising to $10,000 for a fourth, and the Board can apply its own discipline schedule too.

How Big Is Nevada's Cannabis Market?

Taxable sales were $757.7 million in fiscal 2025 and about $696.0 million in fiscal 2026, with Clark County making up roughly 73%.

Is Nevada Issuing New Medical Dispensary Licenses?

No. State law stopped new medical cannabis establishment licenses from January 1, 2024, apart from jurisdictions that ban adult-use businesses.

Does ColaDigital Have a Nevada Office?

No. Our whole team is remote, and your Nevada plan is built around your cities and the visitors and locals who shop there.
