Florida Treatment Center SEO and Compliant Marketing
Florida Patients Keep Coming, but So Do New Dispensing Locations Near Yours
Florida won't let your treatment center advertise anywhere the public can see from a street or sidewalk, and since December 31, 2025 you can't use influencers or celebrities either. Meanwhile new dispensing locations keep opening faster than the patient count grows.
Florida's medical marijuana treatment centers (MMTCs) are the only businesses licensed to run dispensaries here, and they work under some of the tightest marketing limits in the country. The emergency rule also made you register every social account with the Department of Health and limited sign lighting to white or yellow. The state has 942,952 active patients and 782 dispensing locations. For you, I'd start by checking what patients can find on Google: nearby locations, current products, opening hours and the supply-price details the law requires. That's where ColaDigital helps Florida treatment centers compete.
"After roughly 5 months of working with ColaDigital, we can confidently say that we made the right choice and we have seen more traffic to the site and more leads coming in." Don Henke, Sales Manager, MMI Agriculture
Florida Location Scorecard
Tell us which counties your dispensing locations are in. Vee scores where each one appears on Google Maps against the nearest treatment centers, checks your website for the product and pricing details Florida requires, and emails you the gaps worth closing first, generally within two business days.
Kept private, and nobody will chase you afterward.

Florida's Medical Marijuana Program in Numbers, Fall 2026
- Patients: 942,952 holding an active ID card on October 16, 2026, up from 930,226 at the start of the year
- Dispensing locations: 782 statewide, 44 more than on January 2, 2026
- Operators: 49 approved treatment centers, about half of them dispensing so far; Trulieve alone runs 170 locations
- Volume: 148,378 ounces of smokable marijuana dispensed in the single week of October 9 to 15, 2026
- Adult use: not on the November 2026 ballot after the petition drive fell short, so the program stays medical only
Where a Florida Treatment Center Is Allowed to Advertise
Florida's law starts from a ban on anything visible in public and then carves out two exceptions. The emergency rule narrows those further. Your channels line up like this.
| Channel | Allowed? | Conditions |
|---|---|---|
| Billboards, print, radio, TV, vehicles | No | Anything "visible to members of the public from any street, sidewalk, park, or other public place" is barred outside the two exceptions |
| Signs on the premises | Yes, limited | Your business name or a department-approved trade name or logo, nothing attractive to children, and white or yellow lighting only |
| Website | Yes | Department approval of the site, required product and price details, and product images that match what's dispensed |
| Social media | Yes, registered accounts | Each account registered with the Department of Health on its registration form; posts follow the rule's content limits |
| Paid and targeted online ads | Yes, with approval | Department approval before running, no unsolicited pop-ups, and no under-18 audience selection |
| Yes, opt-in | Sent to people who opted in, with an easy and permanent opt-out | |
| Influencers and celebrities | No | Barred by the emergency rule, including through agencies and other third parties |

Florida's Emergency Ad Rule and the Permanent Rule Still Pending
The Department of Health's emergency rule took effect on December 31, 2025, and gave treatment centers 90 days to retire previously approved ads that no longer fit. Its permanent replacement was formally proposed on August 24, 2026; the comment period closed on September 14, and the state's rule site still lists it as not adopted. Until it is, the emergency rule is what you're measured against.
Beyond the influencer ban, the rule bars ads that show consumption, show marijuana in a social or recreational setting, show whole flower anywhere except product listings on your approved website, or use childlike fonts and playful misspellings. It also requires five health notices on your brochures, product emails and your website's homepage. We checked these details against the January 2, 2026 printing of the rule in Florida's Administrative Register; the permanent rule could change them once it's adopted.
Why Your Agency Falls Under the Rule Too
The emergency rule says you can't contract with or authorize a third party to market your treatment center in a way the rule doesn't allow. In practice that puts any agency, us included, under the same limits as your own team.
So when a marketing firm pitches Florida influencer programs or outdoor campaigns, I'd ask how either fits the rule, because the license at risk is yours. Here's a quick check worth running this afternoon: list every Instagram, Facebook, X and TikTok account that uses your name, including old location accounts, and confirm each one is on your social media registration with the department. Fines run up to $10,000 per violation. Florida's sign-only rule looks strict until you compare it with Georgia or Hawaii, which our cannabis marketing laws for all 50 states and DC lays out side by side.
What Florida Requires on Your Treatment Center's Website
Florida's law makes your website do more than most dispensary sites bother with. For every product, it has to show the form, strain, CBD and THC content, dose units, total doses and the CBD to THC ratio, plus the price of a 30-day, 50-day and 70-day supply at a standard dose and the price of each delivery device.
That's a compliance duty, and it's also a chance to win patients. Publishing those supply prices clearly can help patients compare options before visiting. I'd also make each location's hours, address and directions easy to find, so patients, Google and AI assistants all see accurate information. We build those pages so they stay accurate when your menu changes, since product images and names have to match what's actually dispensed.
Florida's Patient Count Keeps Rising While Locations Multiply
Florida counted 942,952 active medical cannabis patients on October 16, 2026, up 12,726 since January 2. Over the same period, dispensing locations increased from 738 to 782. That means more locations are serving a statewide patient population that's growing more slowly, although the figures don't tell us how many patients visit any individual location. Trulieve, MÜV, Curaleaf, Ayr and Surterra between them run 443 of the 782 locations.
If you run a smaller treatment center, I think that's the real pressure point. When several dispensaries serve the same area, I'd compare how each appears in nearby searches, whether its hours are accurate and whether patients can see current products and prices before visiting. Local search is one place I'd focus, since you can improve your website and location information without relying on the paid channels Florida restricts.
Florida Counties With the Most Dispensing Locations
The state's location table puts at least one dispensing location in 45 of Florida's 67 counties. These are the busiest, and if you're in one, your competition is close.
| Area | Counties and location counts | Where we'd focus |
|---|---|---|
| Tampa Bay | Pinellas 54, Hillsborough 53, Pasco 23, Manatee 12 | Four counties with overlapping coverage. I'd compare which of your locations appear in searches around Tampa, St. Petersburg and nearby communities |
| South Florida | Palm Beach 57, Miami-Dade 41, Broward 37 | I'd compare each of your South Florida locations with the nearby treatment centers patients see on Google, then check your reviews, available products, hours and directions |
| Central Florida | Orange 51, Volusia 31, Brevard 30, Seminole 16, Lake 15 | Orlando alone has 43 locations, enough that each of yours needs its own local listing and page instead of one statewide listing |
| Southwest Florida | Lee 44, Sarasota 24, Charlotte 9, Collier 2 | Lee is crowded while Collier has very few, so patients there may be searching from a long drive away |
| North Florida | Duval 40, Leon 21, Escambia 19, Alachua 15 | Separate metros (Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Pensacola, Gainesville) that each need their own local listing and page |
Source: the state's dispensing-location table, read October 23, 2026. Counties and cities may ban dispensing facilities by ordinance, and there's no statewide list of those bans, so a county count doesn't mean every city in it allows one.

Medical Cannabis Proof From Our Case Studies
No Florida treatment center has hired us so far. Every figure here carries its dates from work we've documented publicly, with the medical ones coming from a Texas clinic. Each is evidence of method, and a Florida outcome would depend on your counties and the treatment centers near you.
"Vee provides awesome SEO work!"
Phon Malone, Hello High, a South Jersey dispensary"Worked with Vee for almost two years and found him extremely accessible and always available. He took the time to explain not only what was being done, but why."
Alex Salaman, LabstatFlorida's program is medical only, which makes our Texas 420 Doctors work the closest match we can show. That telehealth clinic evaluates Texas patients for medical cannabis, and the Google and Meta campaigns we ran for it brought in 1,580 leads across four months (the two tiles above), none of the ads disapproved by either platform. Texas 420 Doctors launched a new website in August 2026. Its developer wrote the code, while ColaDigital looked after redirects, launch checks and the rest of the SEO work during the move. A Florida version would start one step earlier, since your paid ads need department approval before they run.

Check How Your Florida Locations Show Up
Send me your locations and the treatment centers you think patients choose instead. I'll look up each location's map spot and its place in regular Google results, compare your product pages with what Florida's law requires, look at a few recent posts against the emergency rule, and send you three priorities.
- Where every location shows on Google
- Website product and price details against the law
- Three priorities to tackle first

How AI Assistants Answer Florida Patients
A patient in St. Petersburg might ask ChatGPT where to get a 30-day supply of a particular cartridge for the lowest price. A newly certified patient in Gainesville might ask Gemini which dispensary near campus delivers. Those answers may draw on what the assistant can read and trust: your Google listing, your product pages, the state's public location list and directories. If your website's age or patient gate hides prices and hours, or your trade name differs between Google and your site, I'd fix that before trusting what an assistant says about you. We keep your names, hours, products and prices consistent, readable by Google where the rules allow, and repeated in code behind each page that matches what patients see.
No one can make an AI assistant recommend a particular treatment center. Our job is keeping what it reads about yours current and correct.
How We Work With a Florida Treatment Center
Audit Accounts, Signs and Pages Against the Rule
We list every social account, check it against your registration with the department, review your website for the required product details and notices, and flag anything that shows consumption, flower outside listings or influencers.
Rebuild Location and Product Pages for Search
Each of your dispensing locations gets accurate hours, directions and delivery details, and product pages show supply prices in a way patients and Google can read.
Add Approved Paid Media Where It Earns Its Keep
Your paid ads go to the department for approval first and target adults only. Each month's report splits Maps views, site traffic and direction taps out by location.
Florida Cannabis Marketing Fees (USD)
Florida fees start from $2,000 monthly; treatment centers with dozens of locations or approved paid media on top can pass $10,000. Your location count, county competition and the amount of cleanup on listings, site and social accounts set the number. Invoices are issued in USD, Canadian clients are billed in CAD, and media is paid for separately.
