Flows and Campaigns We Run

ColaDigital runs email and SMS marketing for US and Canadian dispensaries and cannabis brands. We build the welcome, first-order, win-back and birthday automations, plan regular campaigns around your drops and events, and report what each send brought back in orders.

Email runs on Klaviyo. Texts run on Alpine IQ, a cannabis platform, because Klaviyo bans cannabis texts on its US and Canadian short code and toll-free numbers. Packages start at $600 a month, month to month, plus the platform fees you pay directly.

Trusted by Cannabis Brands, Retail Operators, and Growth-Focused Teams

Every logo represents a business that trusted ColaDigital with an important part of its growth. Some engagements focused on SEO, others on advertising, consulting, technical strategy, or long-term marketing support, but every relationship started the same way: understanding the business first before recommending a solution.

Why Your List Matters More Than Your Followers

Meta limits what cannabis accounts can post, Google won't run ads for THC products, and either platform can restrict an account with little warning. An opted-in email or text list gives you a more direct way to reach customers. Deliverability, consent, carrier rules and platform policies still matter, but you aren't relying entirely on a social feed to reach them.

Most stores already collect phone numbers and emails at checkout or through loyalty. The list is there. What's usually missing is a plan: messages that go out on time, reach the right customers and don't read like the same discount every Friday.

What We Set Up and Run

List Growth with Clean Consent

We check every sign-up point (register, website, online menu, QR codes in store and loyalty), then fix the gaps, with age confirmation and a record of how each person opted in.

Automations

Welcome, first-to-second order, win-back at 30, 60 and 90 days, birthday, abandoned cart (with online ordering), reorder and back-in-stock reminders, and review requests after a purchase. They run every day without anyone pressing send.

Campaigns

Weekly or monthly sends planned around new drops, events, holiday hours and store news, written for your customers, not a template.

Segments

Customers grouped by store, by what they buy and by how recently they bought, so a pre-roll regular doesn't get the same message as a first-time edibles buyer.

Deliverability

Domain authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC), sending warm-up and list cleaning, so messages land in the inbox instead of spam.

Reporting in Orders

A monthly report on opens, clicks, opt-outs and the orders and revenue tied to each send, as far as your POS and loyalty data allow.

Email and Texts Do Different Jobs

Email carries the longer story: what's new on the shelf, a buying guide for one category, an event recap or a store update. It costs little per send and works well for education and brand news.

Texts are for short, timely messages people act on today: a drop going live, a pickup reminder, holiday hours. They get read fast, so we send them sparingly. Too many texts and opt-outs climb.

  1. Sign-upCheckout, QR code, website or loyalty
  2. WelcomeEmail the same day, text if they opted in
  3. First orderA reason to come back within the month
  4. RegularCampaigns and drops they actually want
  5. Win-backA nudge when someone goes quiet

What our work has done for cannabis businesses

Our published case studies cover search and paid ads. We don't have an email one to show yet, and we won't make up numbers. These two show how we work: careful setup, plain reporting and results measured in sales.

A cannabis online store saw online revenue rise 96% in 60 days after our SEO work. A five-store dispensary group got more search clicks at each of its five locations.

The Rules We Work Within

Texting in the US

Marketing texts need prior express written consent under the TCPA. Carriers register business texting numbers and restrict cannabis content, and several states set quiet hours. Every text carries opt-out wording, and we follow your state's advertising rules.

Email in the US

CAN-SPAM requires a clear sender, a physical address and a working unsubscribe. We add age confirmation at sign-up and keep promotions within your state's cannabis advertising rules.

Canada

CASL requires consent before you send. The Cannabis Act allows informational and brand-preference promotion sent to a named adult, but no testimonials, lifestyle content or anything that could appeal to young people. We check your province's rules too.

Platforms

Klaviyo's acceptable use policy bans cannabis texts on its US and Canadian short code and toll-free numbers, which is why texts run on Alpine IQ. Email on any platform still has to follow that platform's content rules.

Every campaign waits for your OK, and you sign off on anything regulated, like product facts, THC content or promotions. Final legal review stays with you and your counsel.

How Pricing Works

1

Review

We review your list, consent records, automations and sending setup, and write down the day-one baseline. There's no charge.

2

Written Quote

We recommend a package and send you a written quote. It's in US dollars, or in Canadian dollars if your business is in Canada.

3

Setup, If Needed

If the account needs repair (sign-up capture, automations, texting registration or contact lists), we quote a one-time setup fee. Existing ColaDigital clients get the first month free, which covers it.

4

Month to Month

There's no long contract. Packages are monthly, with 30 days' notice to cancel, and you can move between packages as your needs change.

How It Starts

1

Audit and Baseline

We look at your list, consent records, current automations, past sends and sending setup, then write down a day-one baseline: how many customers you can actually reach, which automations are live, delivery rates and the revenue your platform already credits to messages.

2

Setup

Domain authentication, POS or loyalty connection where an integration exists, segments and the core automations.

3

First Campaigns

Each month's sends are planned ahead, and nothing goes out until you've approved it.

4

Monthly Report

What went out, the orders it brought back against your day-one baseline, and what we're changing for next month.

What's Not Included

  • Buying or renting email or phone lists. We only send to people who opted in
  • Your Klaviyo, Alpine IQ, POS or loyalty subscription fees, which you pay directly
  • Paid ads (our cannabis advertising team handles those)
  • Photo or video shoots
  • Legal approval of regulated product claims

Who It's For

Dispensaries with a Quiet List

You've collected thousands of numbers and emails through loyalty, and they hear from you only when there's a sale.

Multi-Store Groups

Each store needs its own segments, hours and events, without separate teams writing separate messages.

Delivery Services

Repeat orders are the whole business, so win-back and reorder reminders matter more than one-off promotions.

How It Works with SEO

SEO brings new people to your website and store pages. Email and texts bring them back. The guides and category pages we write for dispensary SEO and cannabis SEO clients become content for your sends, and your sign-up forms live on the pages that already get the traffic.

Email and SMS Marketing FAQs

Which platforms do you use?

Klaviyo for email and Alpine IQ for texts and loyalty. Klaviyo bans cannabis texts on its US and Canadian short code and toll-free numbers, so texting runs on a platform built for cannabis.

Can we text customers about deals?

Sometimes, but consent alone doesn't make a cannabis promotional text permissible. We first check your state rules, your messaging provider's cannabis policy and the carrier's restrictions. If that combination doesn't allow the campaign, we won't send it. In Canada, promotion is limited to informational and brand-preference messages sent to named adults, so price-led texts need care.

Do you buy or rent lists?

No. Bought lists break consent rules, hurt deliverability and get accounts suspended. We grow your list from checkout, in-store sign-ups, your website and loyalty.

How often will you send?

Most stores do well with one or two emails a week and a few texts a month, plus the automations. We set the pace from your list size, opt-out rate and how often you have something worth saying.

Is there a contract?

No. Packages are monthly, with 30 days' notice to cancel. Existing ColaDigital clients adding email and SMS get their first month free.

We already use a texting platform. Do we have to switch?

Not necessarily. We'll look at it during the review and tell you whether it makes sense to stay or move.

How do you measure results?

Opens and clicks, but mainly orders and revenue tied to each send through your POS or loyalty data, compared with the day-one baseline. You get a monthly report in dollars where the data allows it.

Do I have to be an SEO client?

No. Email and SMS works on its own, and it works better alongside SEO because new visitors have a reason to sign up and new content to receive.

What does it cost?

Automations is $600 a month, Growth is $1,200 a month and Multi-store starts at $2,000 a month, in US dollars, month to month. Canadian stores and brands are quoted in CAD. Klaviyo and Alpine IQ subscriptions are billed to you directly. A one-time setup fee applies only if your account needs repair, and existing ColaDigital clients get their first month free.
